As you might have guessed by now. My monitor died after I sent my last post. My son tried to get me up and running before they left for Hawaii but couldn't find a monitor that would work correctly on my system. So I told him we'd deal with it when he got back. I mean, he was only going to be gone for 8 days. Anyone can go 8 days without a computer, right???? Wrong! I have been climbing the walls. Anyway, I was down at my church last Friday and just happened to mention that I needed a new monitor and the part time receptionist spoke up that she had a monitor she wanted to get rid of. It seems her husband traded it in for a flat screen. I picked it up this afternoon and my hubby hooked it all up for me and, Voila!!! I'm back in the computer business. I will get to my blog tomorrow if all continues to work for me. We did have one small problem right after hooking up the monitor. So we'll all have to hope that that problem doesn't resurface and knock me out for the count again.
Ken was indeed baptized on Sunday September 28th!! And so was Jamie (my granddaughter and Ken's oldest daughter). I still can't believe it really happened. We had a mini-disaster right after church services. My son wanted us to all go out for lunch together to celebrate and we no more than got to the restaurant than Ken got a call from my grandson. Seems as though he forgot to set the emergency brake and his car broke loose and rolled down a hill and into the neighbor's car across the street. All celebration immediately dried up as you might imagine. And poor Ken, he didn't know what to think. You know the old "what does God want from me? I just got baptized for pity sake, rant." Like life couldn't get much worse for him. He had so wanted his baptism to kind of close that chapter on his life and let him move on into the next. I didn't get the chance to talk to him about it all before they had to leave for their trip. So I did what any nervous mother would do, I sat down and wrote him two 10-page letters explaining as best I could about the facts that baptism doesn't take away your problems and that all God wants is 100% of each of us. So when he gets home he'll have some reading to do. Ken is very high-strung and I was so afraid that the downturn in the baptisms event would knock him for a loop. But I got an email from my daughter-in-law and she and Ken went to church in Hawaii Sunday. So it looks like he hasn't sworn off his new life in Christ which pleases me. Thank you, Lord!
Okay, I don't have time or energy for a blog tonight but I'll do my best to send off another blog post tomorrow. Hopefully my monitor will still be working. If not, at least you got this. I'm so glad that all of you wrote to say how great his baptism was. I have prayed for years and years for this to happen. I just wish we didn't have to come to the ends of ourselves before we turn to God. It would make things so much less painful. But his dismissal from his work after 14 years of dedicated service to them, was the crowning touch, I guess you could say. Or it was the straw that broke the camel's back. He had some good news before they headed to the airport a week ago and the new casino that's scheduled to open around Christmas time wanted to interview him and they set up a phone interview with him from Hawaii. Well the time for the appointment came and went and no one called him. So that put him into a downward spiral for that day and night. Finally the next day they made contact and they've now scheduled a personal interview for later this week after he gets back home. Tamara says he's really enjoying himself now. He had gone into a tailspin when the phone interview date came and went with no phone call.I don't know what the mix up was but he'll do much better in a personal interview anyway. He carries himself VERY well and a face-to-face can only help his chances. I'm not sure what position he applied for (actually, he didn't apply, it was a word of mouth kind of thing) but hopefully they won't place him lower than he was at this casino. He'd been table games manager for years. He said he wouldn't mind dropping a few levels, maybe even going back out onto the floor as shift supervisor or something rather than just start out in a higher management position. I just want what will make him happy.
Okay, this is it for now. Hopefully I'll be able to blog tomorrow.

glad you are back. You were missed
Thanks God Chaser! I sure missed everyone else. Talk to you soon!
So glad you got a monitor, missed you!! I know your son will be ok, these are part of the test and trials we go through. Satan was trying to steal his Joy after his baptism. He has a wonderful Mom that took time to write a 10 page letter.
Sending manyyyyy blessings to you and your family
Sharon
Thanks, Sharon, it is really good to be back. Although I should be writing right now. I wanted to get a blog written but my mind's a blank this morning. Guess my brain got out of the habit of thinking of things to write about. Hopefully I'll think of something.
